Welcome to the village web site.
We want to encourage a community spirit within Stow Longa and see more social
events in the village. When there is a need for
fund raising , we hope that we can create the organisation that will support
the village to do that and when we just want to have fun, we want to be able to
get things moving and invite people to join in.
We have provided this web site for everyone to join in and see what we are doing
and to see
useful information about the village and
parish council .
We hope
it will provide the village with a place to share news,
events ,
pictures ,
memories and a starting point for linking to outside internet sites which have
plenty of information about our village. We want to take everyone's views into account, so please pass them on.
Please take a look at the last news letter .
If you
register your details , you can
tell us how you want us to contact you (or not!) and
book events
you are interested in.
Booking for events will help us enormously to gauge numbers. When you register you can tell us your email
address, which saves us the walk to everyone's letter box and we can be greener by not using paper.
We have a birthday message for the children of the village, you can tell us their birthdate when you register.

Oil Syndicate (Updated 18-07-08)- more...
Helen Tinkler has organised an oil buying consortium. Oil prices have shot up recently, for most of us
this is becoming a real issue.
We received the following letter from Conquest oil on 18th July :
"Thank you all for your continued support and hard work.
The group now has 150 members which is tremendous for such a short space of time.
You will be only too aware of the cost implications we are all experiencing through
the recent and sustained record high fuel prices, which have in turn resulted in the
financing costs of running our business rising considerably, as no doubt have yours.
Therefore the saving being made by the group is even more important to both parties.
However, after careful consideration we have decided that we will have to reduce
the value of the prize draw to a £200 voucher twice a year.
When the group was set up the value of 500 litres of oil was £183.75, whereas today it is £315.00.
We have also done the same to our own village of Houghton Conquest.
Any vouchers outstanding will be accepted if they were issued prior to this email."

Neighbourhood Watch - more...
From time to time the Police NHW Community Officer leaves telephone messages for us regarding local crimes etc which,
where applicable, are passed to the rest of the village. Most of the information, which is infrequent and brief, does not directly
affect Stow Longa although it often contains advice on scams etc which is of benefit.
Currently, to advise the village, notices are placed on the Village Notice Board. We
feel that a faster and more efficient way to communicate these notices to the
village will be to carry these notices on the website as well.
John Dickins is one of the three coordinators for the village and has been asked to also send the information by email to everyone who is interested. If you are not registered
to receive emails from the website and would like to receive these emails from John
directly please let him know
via email.
