- Trafalgar bicentenial celebration evening A three course evening meal of traditional British fare

The period fancy dress was popular, there were several Nelsons and Emmas and lots of wenches.
Everyone had to bring their own wine which helped the evening along. It was rounded off with a sing song.
This evening was followed by a Beacon Chain event the following Friday, we anticipated that the two events would appeal to different people. There was a good turnout for the Beacon.

Please note that the official website has now been withdrawn.

We have some pictures though!

- Sunday walk As the MacMillan walk happens every other year, we are organising a couple of more casual walks this year.

On the first we are walking to Catworth again through the countryside.
We will be leaving from the Village Green at 11:00am

We can have lunch in the Race Horse.
The distance accross the fields is about two and a half miles. Parts of it are sometimes through long grass.

It has to be said that this was WET and MUDDY and, in truth, rained off. We brave few who gave it a go threw in the trowel after a few hundred yards and went for the much shorter Nature Walk arriving back at The Lane about 45 minutes later.]]>

- Supper and Games The Friends of St Botolph's
would like to invite you to an evening in the church where you can enjoy supper and gossip and games.
Starting at 5:30pm
We will be collecting for the church.
There are many pressures on the church to find funds to continue in operation.
Please come along and enjoy the venue, the food and the company.
We start with a beetle drive, then a lasagne supper, then we'll have a Jenga tournament.
This is a ticket event and we will be passing among you to sell tickets in the coming week.
Feel free to bring your favourite games along.
Bring your own bottle and glasses if you want a drink.
What's a beetle drive? - You play in groups rolling a dice. Each part of your beetle has a number, you need a body first before you can add legs and you can't add the eyes until you have the head. Try to build your beetle first. The winner and looser from each group move table. We play several rounds until we crown the ultimate beetle King or Queen!]]>

- Annual Barbeque
Summer barbeque
The annual bar-b-q has been an enjoyable and popular event for many years now so we hope to see you all on the Green, Church Walk.
Normally run by the Stow Longa Village Community, the event has now been passed over to the Friends of St Botolph's.
We will light the Bar-b-q at around 5:00, so the food will be available close to 6pm, but refer to your nose for further information on the day!
We will contest the right to hold the Stow Longa Challenge Cup again this year.
There won't be a contest for the Challenge Cup this time because of the show earlier in the day. We can still have games 'Just for fun!' though.
We will also serve the cakes that were entered into the Village Show.
We are catering to provide two pieces of meat per person and a variety of salads and we hope that the cooks of the village will come up with some puddings to donate that will taste so much better than anything we could buy from a shop.

We will hold a raffle in aid of church funds.
Please book your place by Saturday 1st August to allow us time to order the food.
