As a charity, the Friends of St Botolph's Church in Stow Longa (it's a long name, but there are lots of St Botolphs!) has a board of trustees that is elected from its membership.
Members of the charity can vote to elect a trustee and can be candidates to be trustees. Board members have certain roles such as chairman or treasurer and the board sits to make its decisions in meetings, duly called, throughout the year. Trustees will hold their positions until the next election when new trustees can be voted on to the board. The election process is usually held during the Annual General Meeting normally held in October each year.
After running for a while we had had the opportunity to fine tune our membership offerings. There are two types of memberships that you could choose to go for.
Basic membership. This means you can support the charity, vote and you can be a trustee.
Membership Package. In addition to basic membership, the package includes three tickets to events throughout the year. We run a variety of events and you should have plenty of opportunities in your diary. Unused tickets will count towards the following year's membership or you can ask for a refund if you won't be able to continue with us.
Your membership fee can be paid as a lump sum, or in twelve equal parts, once a month.
Currently the fee for a basic member is set at £30 per annum or £2.50 per month. The membership package is £60 providing you with a saving over the ticket price for the free events.
You can use our donate button, see one of the Trustees at any of the events that we organise every year, or set up a standing order to pay monthly or to make sure you don't forget to renew your subscription each year.

The money we raise goes towards the upkeep and fabric of the building and towards the projects that the charity supports to make the church a more useful building for the village, for us!
The objects of the Friends are "We exist to support ways to use the facilities of the church for village activities and raise funds to support the fabric of the building and the activities it provides."
We hope to host a series of activities throughout the year and have set some provisional dates for events, keep up to date by looking for events on the events page where you can subscribe to an RSS feed that will tell you when the details on the page change.
We still hope to organise a 1940's event sometime next year
Objective 1: In summary, Stow Longa needs a Gathering Place. The PCC of St Botolph's has kindly offered the nave of their church for this purpose. Certain improvements are necessary to make the space suitable for the villagers use. Chief amongst these is Water and Sanitation.
There is an organization at work to raise funds for the installation of a sink and a lavatory. The funds it raises will be used specifically for this purpose. The Organization which will hold events in various venues (including the church) is called The Friends of St Botolph.
Burns Night 2016
The most recent event held at the church was well attended and a great success.
We've made a little video of one of the hi-lights of the evening.
These are just a select few photos from the many that were taken during the evening.
